Fit in the City - Leigh Ann Root
How is your Disposition?
How healthy is your disposition? What exactly is a disposition? The official definition is: the combination of emotional, intellectual, moral qualities that distinguishes an individual. How does your disposition set you apart from others? What does it say about you? What qualities do you show in off in your own disposition?
I believe, a person's disposition speaks volumes about them how they live their lives. It's an unspoken way in which a person conducts themselves. A good disposition is about having an overall healthy outlook on life. A strong mindset is an extremely important part of a balanced person. Positive thinking is right up there with regular exercise, eating right, and proper rest. I think it is the most important aspect. What you think, you become.
A healthy disposition is valuable to your quality of life. Think about how you would describe your's to someone. What do you stand for? How do you handle stressful situations. How do you treat others? How do you treat yourself? Do you have true meaning in your every day life? Do you take care of your own needs, in order to be a better overall person for others in your life? Do you realize that no one is ever "done" working on themselves? A good quality of life includes a desire to for self improvement and growth. Do you wake up happy or miserable? Do you see chances to be better or challenges you cannot overcome? Do you give people the benefit of the doubt or do you judge quickly? Having an overall optimism about your life is undeniably very important to how much you enjoy your life.
When you spend time in your community, you have the opportunity to witness many dispositions, some are good, some are bad, some are somewhere in between. You may feel instantly drawn to people or completely repelled by them. There are the optimist and there are the pessimists. There are the "Susie Sunshines" and the "Poor Me's". Have you ever know someone who is just waiting for someone to do them wrong? Or how about the human doormat? What about those who just want to be mean. They have some work to do on themselves. People like this are quick to divert attention away from themselves by putting their negativity onto others by their words or by their actions. Give them your patience or your pity, remember, it really has little to do with you. I try to stay clear of people with poor dispositions, I don't want to be around that negativity, it's toxic and can become contagious. It's about energy and the where they focus that energy. You know when your path crosses with a person with a nice disposition. Conversation is easy, there is an overall contentment about them, they're enjoyable to be around. They're responsible for their lives and happy about it! It's nice to be around people like this, they make any situation better or more bearable.
With any type of disposition, there's an underlining similarity to how they face each day and each situation. Sometimes a person's disposition is written all over their face and within their body language. Attitude is closely related to a person's disposition. The meaning of attitude, is a person's frame of mind affecting their thoughts and behaviors. Very similar.
Bad days come and go, they make the good ones that much sweeter. They force us to be better and bigger. It's during those down times that people really show what they're made of, what their disposition is. Who they are.
Your disposition speaks for you. It's tell people exactly how you feel about you and what you think you deserve. What does yours say? Are you content and proud of the way you live your life? I believe that Martha Washington said it best when she said, "The greater part of happiness or misery depends on our dispositions and not our circumstances."
