Fit in the city!
Same Old Song and Dance
February 1, 2005

The other day I was talking to a friend and we we're discussing some difficult things we had both been through. During our discussion we pondered, is this when we give up? Give in? Believing our lives are over? No! It okay to momentarily feel this way, but in reality, this is when things begin again. It's when we say, WE"RE NOT DONE YET! This is when life asks us to rise up and push forward. Most times we become stronger and better because of the adversities we face. It's more than okay to feel bad, feel pain, and to feel sorry for ourselves at times. The trick is to not stay in this place too long. Sometimes we become our problems, if we linger there too long. People are always be bigger than the obstacles they face. It's all in how we view our lives, what we believe. No matter what you believe - good or bad - you will become it. It's similar to, you are what you eat. You become what you think.
Are you done yet? Are you finished? Have you become who you want to be? Have you achieved all that you've set out to do in your life? Have you bounced back, successfully, from different detours your life has taken? I believe that when we think we're done, we're truly done. Done believing, done achieving and done living. Done is to be finished, through or washed-up. When we give up, we give in.
To be done with yourself, is to consider yourself complete or whole. We're all a constant work in progress that should get superior with time and age. In order to be healthy, we must never consider ourselves completely done. I don't mean this in an "over the top" or overachieving way. I mean this in a growing way, maybe occasionally being excellent.
By continuing to better yourself, by upkeeping your health is smart and progressive. When we make the right food choices, participating in regular exercise, have a positive attitude and get proper sleep; we're setting ourselves up to succeed. When your most important "machine" (your body) is working properly you are able to focus and function at a higher level. When we become complacent, is when our health begins to deteriorate. The same holds true for our families, jobs, and communities.
All areas of our lives need constant attention so we can live our most exceptional lives.
Have you ever felt like you were done. Did you just lay down and let life pass you by or did you rise up to the task of getting through, believing that there's more out there for you to do. You must have belief in yourself to advance forward. It sure beats the alternative!
Many people feel that "physically" they're done because they've reached a certain age or a place in their lives. To take care of your body through your life, is of ultimate importance. It's not about vanity, it's about general maintenance and lifestyle choices. We must listen to what our bodies tell us and take action.
I talk to many people that put so many things ahead of their own personal health, believing that this sacrifice is for the best. I believe, it's just the opposite. If you don't hold yourself and your health important, you have less to offer others. You're not able to give your best to them. This is so true with children. They deserve to have healthy parents and other healthy adults in their live. Not just to be able to keep up with them, but more as role models showing them the right way to lead their own lives. This is where they ultimately learn the habits they take with them as they live their own lives.
Maybe today is the day you realize you're not done yet, and you begin to be proactive about your health and other important areas of your life. If you're still here, then you really aren't done yet.
