Fit in the City - Leigh Ann Root
A Year in the Life of You.
Are you ready for this year to end and a new year to start? How do you feel about the last twelve months? Have you been happy? Did you successfully balance work and home? Did you take care of your body and mind? Did you treat yourself and others with respect? Did you work hard and reach goals? How satisfied are you with you? To be satisfied, means to be content, happy, gratified, and able to fulfill one's needs and desires.
This is the time of the year we reflect back and plan ahead for the year to come. It shouldn't be a time to dwell and regret, it should be a time to come to terms with both the good and the bad and then move forward. We shouldn't worry about the "has been", instead we should put our energy into what "will be".
Are you a person who's willing to work hard to get what you want? If what you want is to live a healthier existence next year, then you must be prepared to do the work. True physical fitness and good health takes preparation, effort and discipline. All the same traits present in a fabulous employee or a great boss. It doesn't mean extreme behaviors, quite the contrary. It takes small steps in the right direction, consistency and balance. Doesn't our personal health deserve the same effort we put into our professional lives? You know how rewarding it feels to put in a good, hard days work. Imagine if you worked equally as hard on your health. Your rewards would be endless. You wouldn't be a proud employee or employer if you just sat around doing nothing. You'd be quite unsatisfied. Would you go to work and collect a paycheck for doing absolutely nothing? How unfulfilled would you be? Then don't treat your body in that same way. You're good health will run out just like your paychecks would, if your performed poorly and had bad work ethic. Let's start holding our health in the highest regard and apply the same work ethic we put into other areas of our lives. It's far more important than any paycheck you'll ever receive.
If you have an able body and a positive attitude, there isn't anything you cannot accomplish when it comes to improving your health. Time, age, size, family obligations are all easy ways out of not being accountable for your body's condition. We're the bosses of our own bodies and our own lives, we have the ultimate say. Time can be found if you want to find it. You're never too old or young to start healthy habits like exercising and eating right. It doesn't matter how big or small you are, exercise can fit "every body". And lastly, the better you feel about yourself, physically and mentally, the better you will be for every other "role" in your life.
It's time to motivate yourself toward greatness. It's within each and everyone one of us, if we allow it be. Allow yourself to be great, make it your fate!
